How we help you
Over the last year we have dealt with over 700 cases, mostly relating to debt and benefit problems, with a number of cases involving housing debts, both rent arrears and mortgage arrears, and in each case clients have been assisted to maintain their home, either by successfully defending court actions or negotiating with lenders and landlords to prevent court actions being raised, and assisting clients with such financial problems by income maximisation
A substantial amount of work involves representation at Social Security Appeal tribunals, protecting people with disabilities, and alleviating poverty in this manner through successful representation in over 75% of cases.
Assistance has also been given to those seeking to return to the workplace, with back-to-work calculations used to encourage people back to work by showing them the financial benefits in doing so, and also giving benefits advice to those looking to move into further education.
The project works alongside a number of other groups in the Toryglen community, including ITC, the Toryglen Community Hall, Orchard Grove crèche and Langside College to assist the residents of Toryglen and nearby areas.
